#GiveAHoot Annual Day of Giving/ OWL RUN 5K
Please mark your calendars for Westfield State University’s fifth annual #GiveAHoot Day of Giving which will be held April 10-11. For 1839 minutes, we will focus all our efforts on encouraging donor participation in support of ensuring the best possible Westfield State University. This year our goals are:
•Engaging 500 donors and raising $50,000
•Increased alumni and student participation
#GiveAHoot Day of Giving is a time of outreach, reconnection, and support from our community to help our students achieve success and celebrate the strong Westfield State connection we all share. Today, I am asking you to mark your calendars for April 10-11, 2019 to participate in this campus-wide event.
If you would like to take a more active role in #GivaAHoot, please consider serving as an Ambassador on our #GAH team to help promote this initiative through social media, email, or phone calls. Do you have a special area, scholarship or program you would like to support? Would you be interested in putting $500 or $1,000 toward a gift that your friends and classmates could match? If so, please contact our office at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 413-572-8649. Your gift will help us continue to transform our students’ experience at Westfield State. I hope you will join me to make this year’s #GiveAHoot Day of Giving, the very best yet.
Want to be a part of #GiveAHoot Annual Day of Giving in a unique and different way? Join us for the first Owl Run 5K. Choose to join us on campus on April 7 at 9:00 a.m. for a timed race OR join us virtually from your town, state, country or treadmill the week of April 7-13, 2019. Your entry fee of $40 includes your bib, a gift of $25 to our Day of Giving and, if registered by March 1, a specially designed t-shirt to highlight your involvement!
To view the race map, please click here.
If you are planning to run from your part of the world and would like to serve as a "team captain", please let us know by selecting that option on the registration form. Team captains will select the time, date and location of their run. It is a perfect way to bring a group of Westfield State Owls together and PAINT THE WORLD BLUE to support student scholarships!
- What is a virtual race?
- How does a virtual race work?
- Can anyone participate?
- Can I walk?
- How do I track my distance and time my run?
- Where do I upload my results?
- How much of each registration fee goes to Westfield State University’s #GiveAHoot Annual Day of Giving?
- Can I make an additional donation to Westfield State?
Simply register for our program, complete the distance anytime and anywhere you desire (even on a treadmill!), and upload your finish time to our website. Whether you run/walk alone or with a group, it counts! Your time will be automatically uploaded if you join us for the live race on April 7 at 9:00am at Westfield State.
Unless you are running the timed race at Westfield State University on Sunday, April 7, 2019, we will accept results on the honor system, so you can track your distance and time however you like. The most accurate way to do this is by using a Running GPS watch, but there are also several free smartphone apps available.
We created the OWL RUN 5K to support our annual day of giving, #GiveAHoot. Your $40 registration fee includes your shirt (for those registered by 3/1/2019), bib and a $25 gift to the university. Every single person who participates in our virtual race is making a difference for Westfield State students.
