Westfield State Alumni Association - Foundation Representative

The Westfield State Alumni Association Executive Council is currently seeking a new member to serve as the Council’s Liaison to the Westfield State Foundation, Inc. Due to a recent vacancy, this term will run from April 2023 to October 2025, when the member would be eligible for a 3-year term renewal. Currently, the Foundation Board would benefit from an alumni with a background in either Marketing, Law, and/or Estate Planning. While these are preferred qualifications, all alumni with an interest in giving of their time and expertise to the Foundation and WSAA are encouraged to apply.

The Westfield State Alumni Association Council is comprised of 19 members including the President, President-Elect OR Past President, Alumni Trustee, Alumni Representative to the Foundation and 13 members-at-large. Two current students representing both our graduate and undergraduate programs also serve on the Council as voting members. Ex-officio members include the staff of the Alumni Office, past presidents and committee members.

The Alumni Association Executive Council meets 6 times a year, 5 regular meetings and 1 summer retreat. All meetings are held at the University, with the ability to attend virtually, on Saturdays from approximately 11:00am-3:00pm except for the retreat, which is held on a Saturday from 9:00am-5:00pm with the option to stay overnight. The Foundation Representative serves as the chair of the WSAA Finance Committee, and on an assigned committee on the Westfield State Foundation, Inc. The Westfield State Foundation’s Board of Directors, of which the WSAA Foundation Rep. is a member, also meets six (6) times per year, bi-monthly, on Wednesday evenings. Should the Foundation Rep. choose to serve on any other standing committees of the WSAA, the committees are as follows:

  • Academic and Life-long Learning
  • Association Events
  • Awards, Scholarship and Recognition
  • Development and Marketing
  • Finance
  • Diversity
  • Governance (Foundation Rep. not eligible for committee)

Members are expected to support the mission of the institution and the Division of Institutional Advancement, which includes a focus on communication, engagement and philanthropy. Our council is active and attends a number of University events including, but not limited to, Westfield State Homecoming, Commencement and our Alumni Summer Retreat.

The timeline for The Foundation Representative selection for the 2022 – 2025 term:

Call for Applications: March 6 – 24, 2023

Committee Review & Interviews: March 27 – 31, 2023

Committee Selection: By April 3, 2023

Full Council Approval: By April 7, 2023, Finalist submitted to Executive Director & Chair of Foundation Board

By April 21, 2023: Foundation Board orientation

April 26, 2023, 4:30p.m. new Foundation Board Rep. attends first Board of Directors meeting.
