Alumni Recognition
The Westfield State community is proud of its alumni, and we hope to celebrate the many achievements and milestones they accomplish! If you are an alum with a story or accomplishment to share, or you know an alum who is deserving of recognition, please complete the brief form below. You may also want to consider a nomination for one of the specific awards listed below, granted during Homecoming on a biannual basis. Thank you for sharing your story with us!
Alumni Awards
The Westfield State Alumni Association (WSAA) invites nominations for the awards listed below. Upon receiving nominations, the WSAA Executive Council's Awards & Recognition Committee will review and vote on conferring the various awards to the individuals most deserving of recognition. Presently, the committee reviews nominations during the early spring on a biannual basis. The awards are presented during the Homecoming celebration in October, in the year opposite The Westfield State Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
The next WSAA Alumni Award celebration & dinner will take place in October, 2024 as part of the 185th anniversary of Westfield State's founding.
Distinguished Alumni Award
This award is conferred to Westfield State alumni who have distinguished themselves in professional and/or community service since graduation.
Anyone may nominate individuals for consideration by the Awards, Scholarship and Recognition Committee, by completing the application form. Any additional information, including resumes may also be included. For nominees, the committee shall consider the information and documentation contained in the nomination application, and may also review other pertinent information. Nominations are accepted on a rolling basis, and are reviewed in early spring on a biannual basis. Please note that the nominee or his/her Designee should be available to accept the award at the ceremony at Homecoming.
Alumni of the Year
This award recognizes an alumnus/a of Westfield State who has made a significant contribution towards personal, professional, community or philanthropic achievements over the course of a year to two year period. Nominees must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree from Westfield State. Nominations are accepted on a rolling basis, and are reviewed in early spring on a biannual basis. Please note that the nominee or his/her Designee should be available to accept the award at the ceremony at Homecoming.
Excellence in Education Award
This award is conferred to Westfield State alumni who have distinguished themselves in the field of education within a 1-2 year period.
Anyone may nominate individuals for consideration by the Awards, Scholarship, and Recognition Committee, by completing the nomination form. This award is open to any current classroom teacher, coach, school counselor, or administrator who has earned a degree or educational leadership credential from Westfield State.
Excellence in Healthcare Award
This award is conferred to Westfield State Alumni who have distinguished themselves in the healthcare industry within a 1-2 year period.
Anyone may nominate individuals for consideration by the Awards, Scholarship, and Recognition Committee, by completing the nomination form. This award is open to any healthcare or frontline worker with direct patient contact (EMT, Nurse, Physician Assistant, Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapist, Doctor, Social Worker, Mental Health, or related position) and a degree from Westfield State.
Criminal Justice Hall of Fame
The Westfield State Criminal Justice Alumni Hall of Fame honors alumni who have excelled in their chosen field. Westfield State has a long-standing reputation for the excellence of curriculum and the quality of graduates, who have found success in law enforcement on a local, national and international level.
Nominations for the Criminal Justice Hall of Fame are reviewed and conferred by a committee assembled by the University's Department of Criminal Justice. Please note that the nominee and/or their designee should be available to accept the award at the annual celebration, which currently takes place annually on the first Saturday of April.
