We are thrilled to announce that Westfield State Alumni Michael O'Rourke '73 has been appointed to the Board of Trustees. This is a significant milestone for both Michael and our university, and we are excited to see the impact he will make in this new role. Michael graduated from Westfield State in 1973, where he earned a B.A. in History with minors in English and Secondary Education, and only a few years later, he became the owner of Belmont Driving School, a local driving school located in Ludlow, MA, a mere half an hour drive from campus. Michael, however, is familiar with working on boards such as the board of trustees and has been a member of the Board of Assessors for the Town of Ludlow for more than a decade, where he currently presides as vice chairman. Michael does not stop there in terms of committees he has served on, with an impressive list, from the Westfield State Alumni Association Executive Council, where he served as a member-at-large, to the Special Education Committee for the Massachusetts Association of School Committees, to the Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative, Massachusetts Advisory Committee on Athletics, to name a few.
We extend our warmest welcome to Trustee O'Rourke as he returns to the Westfield State community. We have full confidence in your abilities and look forward to the positive changes you will bring to the Board of Trustees.
