Andrea M. Erickson ’79 Published Book on Journey with Chronic Illness

Andrea Erickson’s first novel, “Black Boots, A Journey of Resilience and Love” was published in February.

At 14 years old, Erickson was first diagnosed with a severe illness. More recently, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, or MS. A semi-autobiographical novel, “Black Boots” details the journey, thoughts, and fears of a young woman with chronic illness. She hopes her book will help others who are battling a chronic illness.

The book’s cover design was created by Erickson’s friend, Hudson resident Mary Whitters.

Now a freelance writer, editor, and researcher at ewriteplace writing services, she has extensive experience writing in the corporate and nonprofit field.

She is currently researching and writing her first historical novel "A Stitch in Time", and will be
publishing a poetry series of books based on over 40 years of her compositions.

Erickson graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield, Massachusetts. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Westfield State University in 1979. She also earned a master’s degree in business administration from Anna Maria College in 1988. She is the chairman of the Hudson Commission on Disabilities.
