The Public Broadcasting station, known as PBS, has been serving public Television to households in America for many years. Just recently, PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger elected Westfield State Alum Bob Culkeen '95 to serve on the professional director board. Culkeen was one of two people chosen to fill a vacancy on the Professional director board, and his resume sure backs up why. Culkeen, who graduated from Westfield State in '95, holds an M.Ed. and currently works as the President and CEO of WTCI, Greater Chattanooga Public Television Station (TN), even having held a position in TV at Westfield State, where he served as Assistant Director of Video Service and Distance Learning.
However, Culkeen did not just work in TV; he also worked as an adjunct professor at Florida State College Jacksonville and a visiting instructor at American International College (AIC), demonstrating his ability to not just work in TV but also provide his years of experience to students all over. Bob also shows a strong dedication to public broadcasting, having served as part of the PBS Affinity Group Coalition and was Vice President of the PBS Small Station Association. In an article written by PBS, it was noted that "Culkeen is active in the Chattanooga Rotary Club, Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the Bessie Smith Cultural Center and Museum Board of Directors. Bob has been civically involved in the communities where he has lived (PBS Publicity, 2025)." He shows his dedication to not only Television but also his community.
Congratulations on being appointed to the professional director of the PBS board, Bob! We are proud of you!
