Massachusetts State Governor Mora Healey recently announced the retirement of Carol Mici '87. Mici, who worked for the Massachusetts Department of Correction (DOC) as Commissioner, concluded more than 36 years of state service at the end of March 2024. Mici has worked in various roles within the DOC over the past few years but has spent the last five years as Commissioner. Throughout Commissioner Mici's term, the Department of Corrections (DOC) has introduced and executed impactful reforms in correctional policy, broadened the DOC's rehabilitative mission, honored a pledge to enhance relationships with policymakers, and progressed numerous significant initiatives to improve operational efficiency, and the list doesn't end there.
Mici, who graduated with a BA in psychology and a minor in criminal justice and earned a master's in Public Administration from another university, has dedicated nearly forty years of service to Massachusetts and has mainly focused on criminal justice reform, rehabilitation, and reducing recidivism within the state.
