Lisa Lobik ’89, M’94 Named Stafford Teacher of the Year

After a rigorous selection process, Lisa Lobik, district literacy leader, was named teacher of the year in Stafford, Connecticut. She has served the district for 23 years. She was described by Director of Curriculum and Instruction Steven Autieri as a “rock of support” and a “beacon of energy, positivity, and excitement.”

Lobik described Stafford as "a community that cares about their kids and makes you feel welcome every day you come into school."

She coaches teachers, assisting them in their instruction of students in reading. She also spends her time in the classroom, working directly with students.

"Education has become a little complicated, and we can provide that support so they have what they need to provide what kids need today," she said. "I just find that the science behind reading to be fascinating,” she added. “It's such a fine-tuned machine to get all the pieces working together."

Lobik earned her bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Westfield State in 1989, and a master's degree in education administration from Westfield State in 1994.
