McLean '94 awarded 2023 Ryan Doyle Courage Award

Alumna Donna McLean '94 was awarded the 2023 Ryan Doyle Courage Award in March of 2023. McLean played Softball and Women's Basketball in her time at Westfield State. She was an All-American and All New England softball player at Westfield State College from 1984-87, was later inducted as a member of our Westfield State Athletics Hall of Fame. McLean was the first female to play baseball in the Westfield Little League nearly 50 years ago.  Although McLean was a trailblazer, at the time she had no idea the impact she had. 

“I was 10 years old, I didn’t realize it was a groundbreaking step. All I wanted to do was play baseball, a sport that I loved,” recalled McLean
