Vittum '95 Awarded High School Physical Education Teacher of the Year  

Alumni Rick Vittum '95 is renowned as one of the greatest offensive linemen in the history of Westfield State football. 2010, he was inducted into the Westfield State Athletic Hall of Fame. Recently, Vittum was honored with The High School Physical Education Teacher of the Year Award by The Massachusetts Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (MA-HPERD). This award celebrates his achievement and recognizes his significant contributions to physical education. During his time at Westfield State, Rick earned numerous academic and athletic accolades, graduating with a degree in movement science. He also served as a coach for the Westfield football team and played a crucial role in developing a weight training program for the players. Rick has also excelled in other sports such as powerlifting, securing state and regional championships, and setting state records in the bench press across multiple weight classes. Currently, Vittum works as a physical education teacher in Waltham, where he is involved in revising the PE curriculum and managing his own physical training business. Congratulations, Rick! We are incredibly proud of you and your well-deserved recognition as PE Teacher of the Year.
