Westfield State alum Leon Henry, class of 2016, has been appointed as the director of Social Services in Charlottesville, VA. Previously, Henry worked at UVA Health as a clinical social work manager and obtained his master’s degree from Westfield in 2016, during which he earned his LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) certification. Henry has an impressive work history, including experience at the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF).
During his time at UVA Health, Henry effectively led a team of 70 clinical social workers and two supervisors, showcasing his strong leadership skills. He completed the UVA Cornerstone Leadership Program and the Health Leadership Institute at UVA's Medical Center Leadership Program. Additionally, he is a member of the Leaders Lab of Greater Charlottesville.
Henry stated, "I want to help children and families break down barriers to create opportunities for people so they can lead progressive lives they can be proud of. I will always meet people where they are and be creative when it comes to problem-solving. When you stay curious, anything is possible."
