Westfield State Alum Michelle Balch, '03, has been named Superintendent of Easthampton Public Schools

Westfield State alumna Dr. Michelle Balch, '03, has been appointed as the superintendent of Easthampton Public Schools following an extensive search process. The school committee officially confirmed her appointment on December 17th. You may recognize her name because she recently served as the interim superintendent of the Springfield public school district before another Westfield alumna, Sonia Dinnall, was appointed to the position. 

Balch was unanimously selected for the role after being shortlisted as one of the final three candidates. Her deep understanding of the district distinguished her from the other candidates. During the interview process, she demonstrated her familiarity with the district's operations, which resonated with the board members. They noted that several key topics she discussed mirrored those raised in committee meetings.
