Melissa SantucciRozzi ’98 Named Braintree’s New Planning Director

Melissa SantucciRozzi has been promoted to director of the planning and community development department for the town of Braintree, Massachusetts. She has served as interim director of the department since December 2020.

SantucciRozzi has worked for the last 17 years in Braintree's planning department as principal planner and assistant director. Mayor Charles Kokoros said, "As interim director, Melissa has worked diligently to carry forward my goals for development in Braintree, including working closely with our boards and commissions to provide applicants with a seamless permitting experience."

"I look forward to serving the Town of Braintree in this new capacity and supporting Mayor Kokoros' priorities for the department," she said. The appointment comes as the department is about to undertake one of Kokoros' priorities: the development of a new master plan.

Her appointment is subject to town council approval; they are expected to vote at their April 27th meeting.

Since 2003, SantucciRozzi has been a member of the Watertown Zoning Board of Appeals, currently serving as chair. She graduated from Westfield State in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in regional planning.
